Ride Start Site: Running Creek Elementary School (Map)
Route: 60 miles +/- Marked / Cue Sheets
Elevation: 4400 ft. approx.
Rest Stops: 3 Stops at Mile Markers 19, 32 & 42
The Morrow Mountain route is a 60 mile loop route. There are 3 rest stops along the route...2 are local stores at mile 19 and 42 and the third is a water only stop on top of Morrow Mountain. Once inside the park cyclists have two choices. The first is to go left and ride all the way to the bottom of the park before turning around to start the 4 mile climb to the top. The second is to simply turn right to complete the 1.3 mile climb to the top. Either way the views from the top are spectacular. The top of the mountain is at mile 32.
Make sure you leave a little "gas in the tank" because the real ride begins after descending the mountain. The majority of the vertical climb is in the last 30 miles including a monster climb in the last 5 miles.
Please note that the scheduled ride dates, routes and start times are subject to change. If temperatures are below 40 degrees at the start, or the predicted chance of rain exceeds 40% for the day, the ride will be officially cancelled. The weather on the mountain can change rapidly and the safety of the group is our main concern. If you have any questions about the ride contact the ride leader. |
