Fat Tire Rides & Links

WeeklyRides.com predominantly posts rides and events geared towards road cycling but what about all of the "Fat Tire" rides? Keeping track of both would make this gig a full time job and since nobody's getting paid to do this I've kept the focus on road rides. I'll occasionally post some of the area "Fat Tire" events but for everyday ride information and trail conditions I recommend the following links...

Charlotte Mountain Bike

Charlotte Mountain Bike is an event website, managed by Charlotte Sports Cycling, dedicated to providing mountain bike enthusiast information on upcoming off-road events. From the weekday Summer MTB Series to endurance race events to the Winter Short Track Series, their goal is to create memorable race experience for all to enjoy.

Tarheel Trailblazers

The Tarheel Trailblazers were founded in 1990 by a handful of local mountain bike enthusiasts. Over the years the club has grown to over 300, resourceful, energetic and active men and women of all ages. Volunteers work directly with local land managers, building and assisting in the maintenance of what will soon approach 75 miles of carefully constructed, sustainable mountain bike trails, in the Metro - Charlotte region. The Tarheel Trailblazers are the voice of advocacy for mountain bikers and our goal is to build and maintain trails for all mountain bikers to enjoy for generations to come.

Dirt Divas

The Dirt Divas are a mountain biking club for women of all ages and skill levels who share an enthusiasm for mountain biking and cycling. Dirt Diva rides encourage a safe and supportive environment for women who ride the trails. Dirt Divas scheduled rides and Skills Clinics are open to anyone, including men and kids (with a parent). Check the Dirt Diva Calendar for dates and trail locations.

Three Peaks USA

September 25, 2010

An homage to the UK’s legendary 3 Peaks Cyclocross Race and Pennsylvania’s notorious Iron Cross, this will be a challenge of rider and machine on the unpaved roads that scale Beech Mountain and its North and South Ridges. Roads conditions range from quality paved roads, to scraped gravel sections that would be comfortable on a road bike, to weathered jeep roads that will force many to walk. Unlike our namesake we are also offering a Mountain Bike Division in both the 75K and 35K races. Race starts and finishes at the Beech Mountain Visitors Center.
