Decisions are Underway, Ask Congress to Protect Funding for Sidewalks and Bikeways
Just two months ago, the Senate passed a transportation bill that included the Cardin-Cochran agreement. This bipartisan compromise would ensure that local governments and school systems are able to access much-needed funds to make bicycling and walking safer and more accessible. Your local leaders—mayors, city councilors and county officials—know what your community’s transportation needs are, and the Cardin-Cochran amendment helps ensure they can compete for funding to make those improvements. Update: March 14, 2012: Today the Senate passed the MAP-21 transportation bill, including provisions to ensure that local governments can compete for Safe Routes to School funding. Safe Routes to School National Partnership applauds the Senate for their bipartisan action and urges the House to move quickly to take up the bipartisan MAP-21 bill. Bobby Labonte Foundation Memorial Ride
Sunday May 20, 2012 - The Bobby Labonte Foundation Share the Road Memorial Ride came from members of the local cycling community who had a desire to honor and remember area cyclists who lost their lives while riding. This ride is part of a seires called "Heart of the Carolinas Triple Crown" joining together with Tour de Kale and Operation Red Sleigh. It is for recreational and competitive riders alike. Those wishing to participate in the triple challenge and win the prizes and money at the end of the 3 events must participate in all 3 events. |

2012 Catawba Riverfront Classic

This event is held on some of the sweetest singletrack in the southeast. Fletcher Flyer
Sunday June 3, 2012 - The 9th annual Fletcher Flyer will offer a full, metric, half century, and thirty mile rides which wind through the valleys south of Asheville. It is the least Hilly ride in Western North Carolina, but it has plenty of rolling hills to keep all riders interested. There is terrific mountain scenery without the long mountain climbs.
